I actually use Dr. Phil, his examples and his methodology with my patients in therapy. Realize you are watching television. And also realize that they have all signed releases and they are most likely being paid, and a lot of this is for dramatic effect. Phil McGraws principles are for the most part pretty right on. If you take the time to read his book and learn about who he studied under you will see what I mean. He's all about taking personal responsibility and being accountable. That's the bottom line. I know his episodes revolving around obesity struck a sour note with me, but only because what he was saying was hitting to close to home for my comfort level. And when I stopped being in denial about my weight issues, then that's when I stopped feeling so terribly defensive about shows like that. But you either love Phil or you hate him. There's no in-between.

I know what you mean. I was in the store the other day waiting for my prescription to get filled and I saw Dr.Phil weight loss products. I know he had a book but I didnt know he had other products. Im sorry but being a fat person I cant take advice from another fat person seriously. If his advice was that good wouldnt he have a rockin bod? And I dont trust any weight loss person that comes out with weight loss products.
