As soon as I read the part about couch placement in sicom history, 2 came to mind. The first and one of the most remembered to those of us "Oldie but Goodie"s is the couch on the Dick Van Dyke Show years ago. Why is it so remembered? In the first part of every show, he would walk in, trip over the end of it, flip completely over and land on his back. That still cracks me up. The other that came to mind was (fast forward 20 years) the couch on All in the Family. I think the only ones that ever sat on it were Gloria and Mike. Archie and Edith had their chairs in fron of the TV.

I thought you were already sharing a room with some fellow Diarylanders?? I'm not sure what my roomy plans are - there may be another D-lander who will be going with me. And did you know if you go to the hotel's website and look for a room during that weekend that you can get it for $109 instead of $119? Not that it's a HUGE savings, but it's something.

I thought Dyke Van Dyke tripped over a an ottoman or a chair - I don't think it was a couch.

I hope you're putting the Bundy couch from married With Children in your essay. My grandma had that exact couch. While that show was on the air.

Further proof of that being true about Toxic is that my crack-smoking ex is all about that song. He thinks it's because it reminds him of his wife, but we are all well aware that his wife just represents crack cocaine to him anyway.
