I used to live in an apartment building where the fire alarm went off at least every other week or once a month. It was frequent to say the least. After a while, we would just look out our apartment door and the windows to the back of the building, see how many others were responding and gage our response based on what we saw. One time it went off in the middle of the night, but we never heard it because we sleep with a turbo fan on high. We only found out about it the next day when our neighbors told us about it. We could have been crispy critters!

there was this interview with scott baio (remember him? chachi and charles in charge! HOT!) and he said that during one of the california earthquakes, he just ran out of his house NAKED because he sleeps nude and had no time to put on clothes. god, i wish i lived in that neighborhood!
